6th April 2010: New Lairg Website Launched
The Lairg & District Community Initiative were asked in October 2009 to take control of managing and controlling the content of the local Lairg website. Following an extensive facelift and a new web address (visitlairg.com), the website will go live on April 6th 2010.
The old address of lairghighlands.org.uk will still be active, however all content is now delivered and managed through one portal – visitlairg.com. Please take the time to explore the new site and provide any feedback to the group.
It is also worth noting that not all businesses and accomodations are mentioned on the new site, because there is a membership fee to all advertisers which was previously administered through the Community Council. If you would like your business to feature on the new site then please get in touch.

The Lairg & District Community Initiative Latest News
Following two years working with the Lairg & District Community Initiative (LDCI), our current Project Officer will be leaving his post in April 2010. It has been an eventful couple of years for the LDCI with many projects and events taking place in and around the village. The Directors are grateful for his contribution towards the development of the Lairg & District Community Initiative within the Parish of Lairg.
It is important to remember that the LDCI were set up to enhance the village and in doing so aim to create sustainable employment opportunities. Lairg is a fragile community who has suffered a great deal of business closure over the past 15 years and it would be wrong to assume that the LDCI can reverse this trend. However, what the group can do is aspire to make changes in the community to enhance the welfare of its residents from a social, economic and environmental point of view.
We ask our local followers to continue to support the group, and although in a time of transition between Project Officers, the Directors are keen to stress the benefits which can be derived through a fresh perspective. The AGM of the LDCI will be announced shortly, and in line with a new Project Officer, we extend an invite to members of the Lairg community who would show interest to join the Board of Directors.
