Lunch Club
Lairg Lunch Club & Friendship Club
Lairg Lunch Club
The Lairg Lunch club is for elderly members of the Lairg Community. The group meet once a week on a Thursday lunchtime, (around midday) during the school term time at the Lairg Community Centre. We offer a hot three-course meal which has been cooked by the Lairg Primary School Canteen (located adjacent to the Community Centre). A team of LDCI volunteers serves the meals to the members.
LDCI supplies an accessible minibus which picks the members up from their homes and brings them to Lunch Club and then takes them home afterwards. The club takes a break during the school holidays, but a summer outing to a local restaurant is organised. The members also go out for a Christmas meal - usually to the Pier restaurant.
Members pay £5 per week, and a £6 fee each school term. These funds go towards the restaurant outings.
Lairg Friendship Club
The aim of the Friendship Club is to improve the wellbeing of the community by creating opportunities for people to get together and socialise.
The Friendship club meets once a month (usually in the Community Centre) and is structured around a social activity, entertainment or a talk with refreshments provided. The group also meets up for an annual Christmas meal in a restaurant.
