River Shin Dam to Lairg Railway Station Footpath
During the open meeting in 2014 the community told us that a safe pathway between the village and the station was one of their priorities and would encourage many people to change their travel habits to walking and cycling between the two and using the train more. The path also has the potential to create a new circular walk/cycleway from Lairg to the Station and then westwards, using an existing link (core path) over the suspension bridge to the Falls of Shin route, and back to Lairg village.
Our proposal is for a 2-2.5 m wide tarred footpath/cycle path constructed to Highland Council adoptable standards inclusive of a 0.5m grass verge and kerbed in sections where space is limited. This would allow use by walkers and cyclists, wheelchair and pushchair/pram users. The total length of the path is 1426m.
